Links working overseas

Our church has strong links with 2 couples who work overseas, as well as knowing of several others. Below you will find details about them, as well as one of our young people who is serving overseas for a short while. Please pray regularly for all of our overseas links.

Mark and Violeta Waddington live and work in Romania where they work amongst prisoners and with young people in the town of Constanta on the Black Sea coast. Mark is British and used to live in Rhyl where he worked as a youth leader, Violeta is Romanian and met Mark due to the strong links between Constanta Baptist Church and Sussex Street Church in Rhyl. We are happy to provide spiritual and other support to them as they are clearly involved in a great work there and whenever they are back in Britain they try to come to St Asaph to share about how they are getting on if they possibly can. They are also in constant email touch with Britain from Romania and so we know how they are getting on and what we need to pray for.

Gary and Susan Parker live and work on the Africa Mercy a ship run by Mercy Ships a branch of YWAM (Youth with a Mission). Gary is a facial surgeon and performs operations such as cleft palates as the ship visits ports in some of the poorest countries in the world such as Sierra Leone and Liberia. The ship also provides many other practical support ministries when it docks in the ports such as digging wells and it is a privelege to be involved in such a great work. Gary is American (as is Susan who he met when back in the States visiting his family) but he had lived in North Wales for a while in the early 1980s working as a consultant at the local hospital before being called to this work. Some of the photographs which he has shown of 'before and after' pictures of the results of his surgery are truly remarkable. For up to date news of Gary and Susan look at their personal web site which is called 'Doing Mercy' and is in the links section on our site.
