Sunday worship

Our style of worship is generally informal.

When people arrive at church they are greeted at the door by a church member and then if they wish they can help themselves to a free cup of tea or coffee from the urn which is near the door. At any time of the morning you can go for a 'fill up' as the urn is always hot, although generally this is only done at the start and end of the services.

We start at 10.30 a.m. with the notices and then there will be a time of worship which is led by a talented group of young musicians. Instruments used include keyboards, drums, guitar, bass and flute. The songs used will be generally modern worship choruses although sometimes more traditional hymns will be included also. The words are displayed using a projector on a large screen at the front of the building. This opening part of the service will also allow chance for intercession, testimony and often a bible reading too. The sermon usually starts about 11.15 a.m. and finishes at about 11.45 a.m. although obviously sometimes it can be both shorter and slightly longer. Adrian the pastor often preaches but other people from within the church also preach sometimes too as there are a number of people who have the spiritual maturity to be able to do so. We also sometimes have visiting preachers. Powerpoint presentations are often used to illustrate the messages.

During the services children stay in till about half way through when they go out to Sunday School or creche depending on their ages. These are both held in a part of the church behind the dividing screen which splits the building in two and a team of church members take turns to lead them. Older children often choose to stay in the services but it is left entirely up to them.

We hold Communion services once per month on a Sunday morning and generally use the Baptist style for these with a shared loaf passed round for people to break bits off and individual glasses used for the wine which we drink together to show our unity.

Those who are hard of hearing would also be pleased to hear that the church has a deaf loop installed so that you should always be able to hear clearly what is being said during the services.
